Preschool Faculty Bios

Cara Cashman (Infant Care) was born and raised in Dresher, Pennsylvania, She is twenty years old and a graduate of Upper Dublin High School. Cara is a student at Montgomery County Community College studying to become an occupational therapist. She has an older sister who also works there, Miss Catie.  Cara is one of five kids and the middle child. She loves her pets; six cats and two dogs and getting to know the kids and looking after babies.

CATIECatie Cashman (Lead Teacher- 3’s) an Upper Dublin native, Penn State graduate and has been a happy member of the Temple Sinai teaching family for 4 years now. She loves spending time with family, friends and her fiancée. Catie enjoys taking her dog for walks, listening to music and relaxing.


Cheryl Tepe is new to Temple Sinai, but has been teaching preschool for over twenty years. She is licensed in Elementary Ed and Early Childhood in both Pennsylvania and Minnesota. She lives in King of Prussia with her husband Tom, son Sam, and daughter Annie (when she’s home from college) and she also teaches third grade Aleph at Temple Brith Achim. 


Cissy Plotnick  has been a part of the Ann Newman Preschool since its inception. Cissy has been the teacher of 3 year olds as well as a lead teacher in a kindergarten enrichment program that she developed.  Cissy also served as the Director of the preschool for a period of about ten year and feels fortunate to have been able to return to doing the thing that she truly loves!



Dianne Allard 




 harrietHarriet Levine (Classroom Teacher-3s) I feel my life has been dedicated to children.  I love watching their growth and enjoy being part of their lives.  Their enthusiasm and interaction with each other and their teachers is a joy to watch.  I have two married sons.  My children are both products of Temple Sinai’s preschool and became a Bar Mitzvah at Temple Sinai.I have a CDA (Child Development Associate).I have worn many hats at the Ann Newman Preschool.  I was an assistant teacher for many years and then became a 3-year-old lead teacher.  I was camp Director for several years and in the Hebrew school at Temple Sinai teaching.I enjoy coming to work every day because we are like a family and that I provide a loving, safe and caring atmosphere for the children.

 Janice Inselberg (Classroom Teacher-PreK) has been teaching preschool for the past 23 years, of which 16 years have been at Temple Sinai.  I feel blessed to do what I love, each and every day, and to be part of this wonderful and caring community.  My passion has been traveling around the world and experiencing how other cultures live.  I also love to cook and spend quality time with family friends.  




Jenn Segal (Lead Teacher-Toddlers) and her husband Gary have lived in Bucks County, PA for more than 15 years.  They have 3 children, Ben, 16, Charlotte 14, and Eli 9.  She previously taught Mommy and Me Classes and Tot Shabbat at another local Shul.  Jenn spent the last 12 summers working as a senior counselor at Briarwood Day Camp.  The first 7 years as a Busy Bee counselor for 5 year old boys and the last 5 as the Nature Specialist.  She is looking forward to working in the toddler class this year.

Joanne Black (Lead Teacher-PreK) began her career at Temple Sinai in 1995, as a lunchtime substitute while her younger daughter was a preschool student. The following summer, she started working at Camp Maccabee and has never left! She has taught the 2’s, 3’s, and 4’s, as well as enrichment classes. Joanne holds PA certification in Elementary Education from the University of Pittsburgh, but loves teaching preschool.  Recently, Joanne extended her learning by becoming a Lasko Early Childhood Special Education Fellow.  She thrives on the energy level of the children and loves fostering the developmental strides they make during these crucial early years.  Introducing the children to the Jewish holidays, rituals, and values is also very important to her.

Jodi Fabius  –(Classroom teacher-toddlers) Jodi studied early childhood education from Southern Virginia University and has fifteen years prior experience. This experience coupled with her love of children and unending patience, has provided children with a positive educational environment. Jodi strives to encourage all students to reach their goals while instilling a love of learning. Jodi enjoys creating jewelry and loves to go to concerts & plays, and spending time with her family.



Lauren Spike (Infant Care) has two children of her own. A son who attends Indiana University and a daughter at Upper Dublin High School.  Her children actually went to preschool at Temple Sinai. She is currently receiving a Master’s degree from Chestnut Hill College and of course she loves babies!!


Laurie Matez (Lead Teacher – Infant Center) has been a teacher here at Temple Sinai for many years.  She is married to her husband, David, and they have three beautiful children:  Zachary, Marshall, and Liana.  They each attended the Ann Newman Preschool.  Laurie is excited to be teaching in the Religious school as well.  She attended Temple University and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communications and Theatre.  In addition, Laurie has a CDA (Child Development Associates) certification.  Laurie has always loved young children and desired to work here so she could use her talents and abilities to enrich their lives.  These skills have lead to her success as the director of Camp Maccabee here at the synagogue.  Laurie hopes to remain a part of Temple Sinai for many years to come.


Lindsay Klein (Lead Teacher – 2s) in Parpareem, the 3 year olds. At 13, she began working at a preschool day camp and has been working with young children ever since. Lindsay has a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Elementary Education from West Chester University and is a member of Kappa Delta Pi, an education honors society. Having grown up in a synagogue preschool, she feels right at home at Temple Sinai! She enjoys cooking, being with her family, and spending time with her friends.


Lori Saruya  (Classroom Teacher – 3s)  I live in Meadowbrook Pa. I will be celebrating 29 years of marriage to my husband Avi. I have two sons; Jason who will be entering his 2nd year of law school, and Adam who will be going into his senior year of college. I have been an assistant teacher for the past five years at Keneseth Israel’s Preschool. Last year I recently completed my CDA. I love working with children. I am looking forward to meeting new people and being part of the Temple Sinai team!


Maria Cashman is a senior Public Health student at La Salle University. She loves kids and wants to work with children when she graduates. She is the middle of two sisters, and is cousins with Miss Cara and Miss Catie!  



Meg Womer (Infant Care) is excited to be part of the Temple Sinai teaching team. She has her CDA and  has been working with children for over 6 years. Meg loves doing  karate which she has been actively involved in for 6 years.  She has her 2 degree black belt . Meg enjoys working with children because they make every moment count in life . When you’re  having a bad day they will always cheer you right up.  She is also available to babysit.



Sheila Regan 




Stayci Avery  (Infant Care) has lived in Upper Dublin for the past 14 years with her husband, Todd of 21 years and her two daughters, Sydni (17) and Taylor (15). Both of her children attended the Ann Newman Preschool and Temple Sinai Religious School where they were had their Bat Mitzvah. Stayci is thrilled to be working in the Infant Care Center with the warm, wonderful staff and feels so lucky to be able to care for the sweet, adorable babies.


Stacey Weiss (Classroom Teacher-2’s) happily returns to the Ann Newman Preschool for her tenth year as a Classroom Teacher and is excited to be working with the twos this year.   Stacey and her family, husband David and sons Matt and Adam, are involved members of Temple Sinai.  Both boys were educated in the Preschool, Religious School, Sinai High, and Gratz’ Jewish Community High School.  



Suzanne Kronstadt , is excited to be a part of the team of amazing Pre-K teachers here at Temple Sinai. She has been a Jewish educator for thirty years, and finds great joy in bringing a love for Judaism into her classroom! Suzanne has been married for twenty years, and has two teenage boys. She enjoys going to the gym, reading, and playing mahjong when not at school!




Ellen McGrotherEllen McGrother (Accounting Office / Preschool Director Assistant) has been employed in the Accounting Office at Temple Sinai for two years.  She assisted in the main office last year and is assisting with administrative duties in the Ann Newman Preschool this year.  Ellen has been married to Charlie for 30 years and has a son, a daughter and son-in-law and a golden retriever















Temple Sinai is an affiliated member of United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism (USCJ)
