Florence and Rubin Dworkin Scholarship Fund

Florence and "Rube" Dworkin were a true Temple Sinai couple.  Both were active in many areas of the shul.  Coincidentally, Florence was the president of Sisterhood at the same time that Rube was the president of Men's Club.

Their service to Temple Sinai didn't stop there.  Florence, a Board member, also served as chairman of the Youth Activities Committee and was a member of the Catering and Israel Bond Committees.  Wherever there was a congregational dinner function, she was called upon to chair the Seating Committee for that event.

Rube, in addition to being on the Board, chaired the Housing Committee, and was a member of the Budget, Membership, Ushering, Catering and Finance Committees as well as the Suburban Building Committee.  A little known fact about Rube is that he also served in Africa in World War II and he was the recipient of the Purple Heart.

After the death of her parents, their daughter, Dina Rovner, a second-generation member of Temple Sinai, established a scholarship fund in their memory.  She and her husband, Hal, continue to maintain the fund.  The Dworkins' grandchildren Paul, Eric and Robin, all became B'nai Mitzvah at Temple Sinai and all were confirmed here.

Dina and Hall Rovner retain their membership in Temple Sinai and continue to honor the memory of Dina's parents, Florence and Rubin Dworkin, who were a vibrant part of the congregation for many years.
